Classic Recordings of Scottish Fiddling
Fiddlestream
Digital Reissues FDR0002
In
1979, following on the release of the Angus Chisholm LP,
Shanachie
records released this LP compilation of
the 78RPM recordings of Cape Breton fiddler Bill Lamey. Lamey had been
by this time living in Boston for thirty years, where he had established
some of the most renowned dances in Roxbury. Before moving away in
the early 1950's, Lamey was a popular Sydney based CJCB radio
performer where he recorded this series of discs. The medleys are
standards
today, having enjoyed widespread circulation amongst fiddlers. The
78s were carefully remastered for the Shanachie reissue, and released
on LP and cassette format.This
Digital Reissue, was remastered
again, directly from the Shanachie master.
